World Mission Society Church of God Celebrates 60 Years with Groundbreaking Peace Concerts Across Major Global Venues
[New York City, NY Sept. 9] – The World Mission Society Church of God proudly marks its 60th anniversary with a series of inspiring peace concerts held at four prestigious locations: the Pentagon, United Nations, Lincoln Center, and Columbia University. These landmark events were organized to spotlight the remarkable global expansion of the Church, founded in 1964 by Christ Ahnsahnghong. Today, the Church has over 7,500 congregations across 175 countries.
The event held at Columbia University was carried out by ASEZ, the university student volunteer arm of the Church of God. ASEZ means (Save the Earth from A to Z) and was created to foster meaningful exchange and carry out sustainable activities including seminars, forums, cleanups, and crime reduction campaigns. To celebrate the church’s 60th Anniversary, ASEZ aimed to deliver hope and love to the university students starting the new semester.
The Messiah Orchestra, hailed from South Korea, delivered unforgettable performances at each venue, drawing hundreds of distinguished guests and leaders from various fields, including government and the United Nations. Their presence underscored the Church’s commitment to fostering international unity and understanding.
The concerts also featured vibrant Korean cultural performances, such as traditional drum and fan dances, which passionately conveyed the growth and resilience of the nation where Christ Ahnsahnghong began his ministry. Statewide leadership and Ambassadors offered proclamations commending the Church for impactful community service.
The peace concerts were also emblematic of the Church’s belief in God the Mother, whose unconditional love transcends boundaries of nationality, race, age, and gender. The spirit of service, rooted in the heart of Mother, has enabled members to carry out hundreds of thousands of volunteer projects, earning more than 4,200 accolades from Presidents, Kings, Ambassadors, Ministers, and lawmakers.
The 60th Anniversary celebration brings awareness to the church’s core teaching of the New Covenant Passover which Jesus kept at his first coming. Through the Passover, Christ gave the promises of eternal life, forgiveness of sins and the blessing to become one body. In this way, those who participate can love one another as God loves.
Throughout history, the Passover slowly disappeared and was finally abolished at the Council of Nicea in AD 325. Christ Ahnsahnghong’s return as the Second Coming Christ restored this sacred truth after centuries of religious oppression making him the first true religious reformer. Today, over 3.7 million people across 175 countries celebrate the New Covenant Passover and study the truths of the Bible retaught by Christ Ahnsahnghong.
In a time, rife with conflict and undergoing planetary crisis, these concerts offered a moment of healing and communal exchange on this 60th Anniversary celebration.
