Lloyd Blankfein, who served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Goldman Sachs, one of the world’s leading investment banks, from 2006 until his retirement in 2018, attended Thomas Jefferson High School in East New York and lived in NYCHA’s Linden Houses.

Lloyd Blankfein Early Years

Blankfein is an American billionaire who was born on September 20, 1954, in the Bronx, New York City. He grew up in a housing project in East New York. Despite the challenges of his early environment, Blankfein was a diligent student who excelled academically. He attended Thomas Jefferson High School on Pennsylvania Ave., where he graduated as the school’s valedictorian. After high school, Blankfein went on to further his education at Harvard, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1975, followed by a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School in 1978. His journey from a humble background to the pinnacle of global finance is often cited as a quintessential example of the American Dream.
