Brooklyn, NY — Christine Gabriella Ortiz, Esq., a longtime court professional with deep roots in Kings County and a career defined by public service, has officially announced her candidacy for Civil Court Judge, Brooklyn Countywide. Ms. Ortiz has been found Qualified by the Judicial Screening Committee and brings more than a decade of legal experience centered on fairness, equity, and respect for the people of Brooklyn.
Since 2015, Ortiz has served within the New York State Unified Court System in Kings County, working across Criminal Court, Civil Court, and Supreme Court. She currently serves as Principal Law Clerk in New York State Supreme Court, Kings County, Civil Term, where she supports a high-volume, trial-ready docket and helps ensure that the court operates efficiently and fairly for litigants, attorneys, and the public.
“Brooklyn is one of the most diverse boroughs in New York City, and our courts must reflect that diversity not only in who they serve, but in how justice is administered,” said Christine Ortiz, Esq. “Fairness and equity are essential to maintaining trust in our legal system, and every person who enters a courtroom deserves to feel heard, respected, and treated with dignity.”
Ortiz’s professional experience has brought her into daily contact with Brooklyn residents from every walk of life. Through her work in Kings County courts, she has gained a deep understanding of how civil court decisions affect families, tenants, workers, small business owners, and community members across the borough. Her career has been grounded in careful legal analysis, preparedness, and an appreciation for the real-world impact of judicial decisions.
“My career has been shaped by years of working alongside judges, attorneys, and court staff in Brooklyn,” Ortiz added. “I have seen firsthand how important it is for judges to approach each case with balance, independence, and humanity. If elected, I would bring that same commitment to the bench.”
Ortiz earned her Juris Doctor from CUNY School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Latino Studies from Columbia University. Her legal background includes public-interest advocacy, litigation, and private practice, as well as extensive experience supporting the work of the courts. In addition to her professional service, she has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to community engagement, mentorship, and civic participation throughout New York City.
Christine Ortiz’s candidacy reflects a dedication to a judiciary that understands Brooklyn not just as a legal jurisdiction, but as a diverse and vibrant community. She is seeking election to Civil Court Judge to continue serving the borough with integrity, fairness, and respect for all who come before the court.
