“Shine on Me is a ten week initiative which will provide a safe library space for homeless adults to express themselves.
Homeless adults will be introduced to the services and resources they can use to obtain resume help, employment and housing as well as programming to help build their confidence and self-esteem.
Social workers and life coaches will be on board to assist facilitating Shine On Me. Representatives from non-profit organizations and the Business & Career Center will be present during the sessions. Participants will receive relevant feedback from appropriate team members. They will be given care packages for non-library use and MetroCards for job interview and housing appointment purposes. They will utilize weekly planners and journals to chart their progress.
The participants will be awarded certificates. They will also receive a list of employment and housing resources and of affirmative books, music and films to feed their souls.”
