“How does improvisation manifest between disciplines? How does creative practice shift when our senses are altered? This evening’s program explores these questions through a live artistic collaboration between painter and visual artist Ford Crull and musician Brandon Ross from the band Harriet Tubman. Starting from a state of vulnerability and possibility, both artists are influenced by the other as they improvise the performance: Crull, creating a large-scale painting while blindfolded, and Ross and his ensemble building an evolving musical environment. In a time of increasing interest in advanced technologies outside of ourselves (artificial intelligence and virtual reality, for example), this collaboration asks: what power can be harnessed from of our inner human technologies of consciousness, wonder, and imagination?”
