ARTs East New York Ujima Culture Rising Town Hall Series Recap

EVENT RECAP:

On Thursday, September 28th, local arts organization ARTs East New York held the first installment of its Ujima Culture Rising Town Hall Series hosted by Brian Vines, Senior Anchor/Host on BRIC TV’s BK Live. The Town Hall “Youth Speak” surrounded the increasing integration of art education and cultural programming in schools and explored the complexities around the rapidly changing East New York neighborhood, and how the arts play a role in its resistance and as a resource.

 

Panelist included, Kevin Joseph, Co-Founder and Co-Executive Artistic Director, Pure Elements, Raymond Johnson, College and Career Planning Manager with the NYC DOE Office of Post-secondary Readiness and Lisa Levy, Director of Advocacy and Engagement at The Center for Arts Education.

The Town Hall series continues Thursday, October 26, 2017 with moderator Brian Vines panelists Betsy McClean and Ana Aguirre exploring the topic of Art & Cultural Activities for Community Development, Land-Use, and Economic.
