We are excited to announce AENY’s partnership with BMS Family Health and Wellness Centers for ARTsPlosion 2017 Community Tree Lighting Ceremony, one of the season’s first tree lighting ceremonies in East New York, Brooklyn featuring a day of vending, a cultural trolley tour, town hall panel discussion, toy giveaways, children’s arts and crafts and a performance by Shahadi Wright Joseph playing young Nala in Disney’s The Lion King hosted by ARTs East New York.

11:00 am – 3:00 pm | Arts and Crafts Fun For Kids

1:00 pm – 5:00 pm | Arts and Culture Trolley Tour of East New York

5:00 pm – 6:30 pm | Town Hall Meeting,

“The Cultural Plan, Residents as Leaders” featuring:

·      Tom Finkelpearl, Commissioner, NYC Department of Cultural Affairs

·      Paula Segal, Senior Staff Attorney, Urban Justice

·      Farrah Lafontant, Steering Committee Member, Community Coalition for the Advancement of East New York/Cypress Hills

7:00 – 8:30 pm | Tree Lighting, Toy Giveaway, Performances

The event commences with a performance by Shahadi Wright Joseph, who is playing young Nala in Disney’s 2019 remake of The Lion King.  Additional performers include Pure ElementsAENY KidsThe Hand Arts & EdutainmentDance Atlantic and more.
