Brooklyn, NY — Dr. Lela Guledani, a Georgian-born scholar, nonprofit leader, and business coach based in New York, has issued a public statement urging the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to finalize her employment-based green card petition (EB-2 National Interest Waiver), which has experienced prolonged and unexplained delays despite being filed under premium processing.

Dr. Guledani noted that although she paid the premium fee for expedited review, her petition has exceeded the official decision timeline. “Today marks the sixtieth day since my premium process began. I have always maintained full legal status in the United States, and I believe my petition clearly meets all the requirements,” she stated.

She also expressed concern about recent irregularities in the USCIS online system, including temporary case withdrawals submitted without her consent, followed by reopening’s and additional evidence requests. “My case file already includes sufficient documentation to support approval,” Dr. Guledani added.

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has recently issued a notice requesting additional evidence, even though all required and authentic materials were fully submitted. The agency has also acknowledged an internal administrative error in processing her petition, raising serious concerns regarding procedural accuracy and fairness.

“As a human rights defender from the occupied territories of Georgia and a single mother of three, I remain confident that USCIS will correct its mistake and approve my green card application in accordance with the law,” said Dr. Guledani.

Dr. Guledani’s contributions to education, entrepreneurship, and public service span both Georgia and the United States. She holds a Ph.D. in International Business, has taught university-level courses for more than 15 years, and has served as Minister for Conflict Issues and an invited specialist of Parliament in Georgia. In 2018, she participated in the Open World Program, a U.S. Congressional exchange promoting leadership and transparency.

Since relocating to New York, Dr. Guledani has continued her commitment to community and business development. She has taught Microeconomics at the College of Staten Island, serves as a Business Education Instructor at the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, and is an active member of the Women and Minority Entrepreneurs Committee.

She also founded Guledani Insight Partners, a consulting firm providing leadership and team-building training for small businesses. Her civic involvement extends beyond her professional work. Dr. Guledani has volunteered in local election campaigns, supported immigrant women through the New York Women’s Club, and remains active in the Georgian-American Republican Alliance and the Georgian-American Business Association. “My goal is simple — to continue contributing to America’s success through education, entrepreneurship, and community empowerment. I deeply believe that my work supports the values this nation was built upon,” said Dr. Guledani.

Dr. Guledani’s case underscores the experiences of many skilled immigrants whose contributions to U.S. innovation and community life depend on timely and accurate immigration decisions. She calls on USCIS to ensure fair and efficient review processes that reflect America’s commitment to justice and opportunity for all.
