A Visionary Project for the East New York Community

The Innovative Urban Village is a collaborative effort between the Christian Cultural Center, Gotham Organization, and Monadnock Development. Encompassing 1.7 million square feet and 11 new buildings, the project aims to reshape the East New York neighborhood with nearly 2,000 income-based apartments, community-focused amenities, and commercial spaces. Highlights of the master plan include:

• 817 permanently affordable rental units in initial phases, with income targets between 30% to 80% of area median income (AMI).
• 675 affordable housing units and 200 supportive senior housing units across the full project timeline.
• A workforce development center, daycare, grocery store, and medical facilities, providing essential services to residents.
• Commercial and retail space, including a 10,000-square-foot pharmacy and a 17,000-square-foot grocery store.
• Retention of the existing CCC church and a new public parking garage to support both the church and the broader community.

Construction in Full Swing

Now that the cranes are dominating the East New York skyline, construction is in fact. in full swing. Phase 1A will deliver 376 affordable rental units and 10 affordable homeownership properties for those earning 80% to 100% AMI. Additionally, it will include 27,000 square feet of commercial space and 107,000 square feet of parking.

A Community-Centric Vision

Pastor AR Bernard, whose CCC is the city’s largest megachurch with 37,000 members, envisioned Innovative Urban Village as more than just housing. The development includes spaces for arts, education, and workforce development, reflecting a holistic approach to community building.
