Official Statement from Assemblywoman Nikki Lucas on the Two Recent Manhattan Stabbings
The violent attacks that injured two New Yorkers, this past week, are reprehensible and have no place in our city. My prayers are with the victims, their families, and everyone affected by these horrific acts.
The hate crime charges filed in this case send a clear message that violence fueled by hatred will not be tolerated. New York's greatest strength has always been its diversity, and an attack targeting any community is an attack on all of us. Whether someone is Jewish, Asian, Black, Latino, Muslim, Christian, LGBTQ+, or of any other faith, race, ethnicity, background, or identity, every New Yorker deserves to live in safety and without fear.
We must continue to reject hatred in all its forms and stand together against those who seek to divide our communities. Our differences make New York stronger, and we cannot allow acts of violence to undermine the values of respect, dignity, and unity that define our city.
I urge all New Yorkers to support one another during this difficult time. By standing together across every neighborhood, faith, and culture, we send a powerful message that hate will never define who we are. We are strongest when we protect one another, reject violence, and remain united as one city.
