(PRESS RELEASE) Judge Juliet P. Howard Launches Campaign Focused on Fairness, Justice, and Community for Kings County Civil Court
Brooklyn, NY — October 2025 — The Honorable Juliet P. Howard has officially kicked off her campaign to serve as Judge of the Kings County Civil Court in the 6th Municipal District, which includes parts of Prospect Heights, Park Slope, Crown Heights, Flatbush, East Flatbush, Kensington, and Midwood.
Judge Howard currently serves in Kings County Housing Court, appointed to the bench in 2021 after more than 25 years of public interest legal service. She was recently found APPROVED by the Judiciary Committee of the New York City Bar Association, recognizing her fairness, experience, and commitment to justice.
She is reminding voters that Early Voting runs from October 25 through November 2, and Election Day is Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
“While much of the focus this election season will be on the Mayor’s race, local judicial elections are equally important,” said Judge Howard. “The Civil Court is where many of our neighbors turn for help with housing, family, and small claims matters. Every Brooklyn resident deserves a fair and compassionate judge who listens and understands their challenges.”
A Harlem native raised in Sugar Hill, Judge Howard was inspired by her grandmother and mother, both of whom worked tirelessly in pursuit of better opportunities. Her mother spent 45 years in the Civil Court system, which exposed Juliet to the importance of justice and community service from an early age.
Judge Howard, the first in her family to graduate from college, earned her B.A. from Barnard College of Columbia University, J.D. from Brooklyn Law School, and M.F.A. in Creative Writing from The City College of New York. Before becoming a judge, she worked as a court attorney for the New York State Unified Court System and as a Staff Attorney for The Legal Aid Society’s Civil Division.
Known for her fairness and accessibility, Judge Howard ensures that all litigants — particularly those who are marginalized or elderly — understand their rights and have meaningful access to justice. She also serves as co-chair of the Kings County Subcommittee of the NYC Equal Justice Implementation Committee, helping to eliminate bias and foster diversity within the court system.
