Jaime Williams Secures More Than $12.5 Million for the District, Continues Focus on Community Partnerships
BROOKLYN, NY — Assemblymember Jaime Williams announced that more than $12.5 million in funding has been secured for schools, parks, homeowners, seniors, youth programs, public safety initiatives, small businesses, environmental projects, and community organizations throughout the 59th Assembly District.
The investments have benefited residents of Canarsie, Flatlands, Marine Park, Mill Basin, Bergen Beach, Georgetown, and Gerritsen Beach through programs and projects that strengthen educational opportunities, improve neighborhood resources, support public safety, assist families and seniors, and enhance quality of life across the district.
Williams said the funding reflects the importance of listening to residents, working with local organizations, and building strong community partnerships that help identify local needs and secure resources to address them.
"Bringing resources back to the community is one of the most important responsibilities of an elected official," said Williams. "I am grateful for the partnerships we have built with residents, schools, nonprofit organizations, houses of worship, and community stakeholders that have helped make these investments possible. Together, we have been able to secure funding that benefits families throughout the district."

Investing in Education, Recreation, and Opportunity
One of the largest areas of investment has been education and youth development.
Approximately $3.5 million has been secured for local schools, helping provide resources that support students, educators, and learning environments throughout the district.
Funding has also been secured for improvements at Bildersee Playground, providing enhanced recreational opportunities for local families and young people.
In addition, investments have supported educational and workforce development initiatives at Kingsborough Community College, including:
- STEM laboratory improvements
- Global Wind Tower Training Facility construction
- Ship simulator enhancements
- Construction of a multipurpose vessel
- Summer Sea STEM programming
"Education extends beyond the classroom," Williams said. "Whether it's supporting our schools, improving community recreational spaces, or creating workforce development opportunities, these investments help provide opportunities for residents of all ages."
Supporting Homeowners and Housing Stability
Approximately $600,000 has been secured to support homeowner assistance programs, including foreclosure prevention services, tenant support programs, and STAR rebate assistance.
Williams noted that affordability continues to be a major concern for many district residents, particularly homeowners of one- and two-family homes who face increasing costs while working to remain in the communities they have built their lives in.
"Helping families remain stable in the communities they have worked hard to build is an important priority," Williams said. "Programs that provide guidance and assistance can make a meaningful difference for residents."
Strengthening Public Safety and Emergency Services
Public safety investments total approximately $1.2 million, helping support programs and initiatives designed to enhance neighborhood safety and community well-being.
An additional $1.6 million has been secured for volunteer fire and ambulance services, helping ensure local emergency service organizations have the resources necessary to respond when residents need assistance.
"Our first responders and emergency service organizations play a vital role in protecting our communities," Williams said. "These investments help support the important work they do every day."
Supporting Community Organizations, Youth, and Seniors
Approximately $1.7 million has been secured for nonprofit organizations, youth programs, and senior services throughout the district.
These organizations provide a wide range of services, including educational programs, senior support, youth development initiatives, health and wellness services, food assistance, and community outreach efforts.
Among the programs supported was free swimming instruction through the Hebrew Educational Society, helping local children develop essential water safety skills.
"Community organizations often serve as the backbone of our neighborhoods," Williams said. "They provide services that help families, seniors, and young people thrive."
Helping Small Businesses and Supporting Economic Growth
Local businesses have benefited from approximately $650,000 in support and economic development initiatives.
Williams said small businesses remain an important part of the local economy, providing jobs, services, and opportunities while helping maintain vibrant commercial corridors throughout the district.
"When small businesses succeed, our communities become stronger," Williams said. "Supporting local entrepreneurs helps create opportunities for residents and contributes to the overall health of our neighborhoods."
Improving Quality of Life Across the District
Additional investments have supported projects that improve neighborhood quality of life and expand access to important services.
Funding includes:
- Approximately $500,000 for Jamaica Bay environmental restoration and clean-up efforts
- Approximately $750,000 to address food insecurity
- Approximately $400,000 for library renovations
- Approximately $600,000 for NYCHA improvements
These projects help improve public spaces, strengthen community resources, and provide support to residents facing challenges.
Continuing the Work Together
Williams said she remains committed to working alongside residents, community organizations, schools, civic groups, nonprofit leaders, and local stakeholders to identify priorities and advocate for additional investments that benefit the district.
"Our communities have accomplished a great deal through collaboration, but there is always more work to do," Williams said. "I look forward to continuing to work with community partners to identify needs, advocate for resources, and help bring additional investments into our neighborhoods so that future generations can continue to thrive."
