BROOKLYN, NY (Dec. 25, 2025) — Deron Rippey Jr., the No. 1 point guard recruit in the country, and a Brooklyn-native, in the Class of 2026, will announce his college commitment on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. The public announcement will take place at the Major R. Owens Center in Brooklyn. Doors open at 3:00 p.m.
Rippey Jr., who lives in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, attends Blair Academy in New Jersey, an elite school with a nationally respected basketball program. A 6’1 point guard, Rippey Jr. has become one of the most in-demand recruits in high school basketball, earning attention nationwide for his leadership, pace control, playmaking, and scoring ability.
Final five schools named
Rippey Jr. has received more than 30 Division I scholarship offers and has narrowed his college decision to five programs, according to his father:
- Duke
- NC State
- Miami
- Texas
- Tennessee
His broader offer list has included many of the nation’s top programs, including Kentucky, North Carolina, St. John’s, Louisville, Syracuse, Alabama, and others.
