The café, which opened in 2003, is shutting down after being hit with another steep rent increase.

Staff members told NYC Newswire that the landlord is seeking to raise the already high rent by an additional $4,000 per month—an increase the business simply cannot absorb. The decision leaves the neighborhood without one of its most consistent and welcoming gathering spots.
