(PRESS RELEASE) Judge Jacqueline D. Williams Officially Launches General Election Campaign for Kings County Supreme Court

Brooklyn, NY — [October 14, 2025] — Hon. Jacqueline D. Williams, currently serving as an Acting Supreme Court Justice in Kings County and as a Family Court Judge, today announced the official launch of her General Election campaign for Kings County Supreme Court. Judge Williams, a lifelong public servant with nearly 25 years of judicial and legal experience, is running to continue serving the people of Brooklyn with distinction, fairness, and compassion.

Born on March Air Force Base in California while her father served in Vietnam, Judge Williams was raised in Brooklyn after her family returned to be closer to their Panamanian relatives. Although her academic and professional journey took her to various parts of the country, she always returned to Brooklyn, the community she proudly calls home. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in History from Yale University, with a focus on Caribbean and Latin American Affairs, and her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, where she served as an editor of the African American Law Journal.

Her judicial career began after serving as a Principal Court Attorney and Senior Court Attorney to the Hon. Bernadette Bayne. In 2006 she was elected to the Civil Court bench, where she presided over both criminal and civil matters. In 2014 she joined Kings County Family Court, presiding over juvenile delinquency cases and later child protective matters, reflecting her commitment to balancing accountability with compassion. Since 2015, Judge Williams has served as an Acting Supreme Court Justice, where she continues to oversee a wide range of cases with diligence and integrity.

“Brooklyn is my home, and the people of this borough are my family,” said Judge Williams. “Every decision I make from the bench is grounded in fairness, respect, and a commitment to justice for every resident who comes before the court.”

Judge Williams stated, “I am running because I believe the people of Kings County deserve a Justice who not only applies the law, but who understands their lives, their struggles, and their hopes for a fair system. My life and my career have been shaped by service, and this campaign is about continuing that service on behalf of all Brooklyn residents.”

Judge Williams is widely recognized for her analytical skills, strong trial experience, and excellent legal writing. She is committed to ensuring that the legal system remains credible, consistent, and accessible. “My pledge is to continue serving with integrity, fairness, and compassion,” she said. “I will continue to bring the same dedication and balance that I have brought to every courtroom, to ensure that justice is not only done, but that it is seen and felt by the people who depend on it.”

Beyond her judicial work, Judge Williams has devoted herself to community service and outreach. She has organized Black History Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, and Day for Brooklyn Teens events in the courts, spoken at local high schools to inspire students to pursue careers in law, and served as a mentor to future leaders. She remains active in her church, serves as an alumni interviewer for Yale, and is a dedicated member of the Lions Club, where she has trained young leaders and represented the organization at United Nations programs.

“Justice is not only about rulings in the courtroom—it’s about building trust in our legal system and showing young people that they, too, can be leaders in their communities,” Judge Williams added. “I want every student I meet to understand that the doors of justice are open to them.”

Judge Jacqueline D. Williams’ General Election campaign reflects her lifelong dedication to justice, public service, and the people of Brooklyn.
