With the June Democratic primary approaching, Assemblymember Stefani Zinerman used a Bedford-Stuyvesant community discussion to highlight her accomplishments in office while outlining priorities for a new term. Facing challengers Eon Huntley and Michael Bailey, Zinerman focused on her legislative record, investments secured for Central Brooklyn, and efforts to support homeowners, workforce development, and healthcare access. The event provided voters with an opportunity to hear competing visions for the future of the 56th Assembly District, which includes Bedford-Stuyvesant and parts of Crown Heights, as residents prepare to head to the polls later this month.
Assemblymember Stefani Zinerman Delivers Standout Performance in Spirited Bed-Stuy Community Discussion
Facing challengers Eon Huntley and Michael Bailey, Zinerman points to years of delivered results — and lays out a clear plan for what comes next — ahead of the June primary.
BROOKLYN, N.Y. — On Saturday, May 30th, Assemblymember Stefani Zinerman took the stage in a spirited community discussion in the heart of Bedford-Stuyvesant this week, taking on primary challengers Eon Huntley and Michael Bailey before an engaged crowd of neighbors, families, and longtime residents of the 56th Assembly District.
Throughout the evening, Zinerman drew a clear contrast between her record of delivered results and her opponents’ promises. She reminded the room of the hard work the community has put in together over the years — and made the case that the progress they have built is worth protecting.
“Everything we’ve accomplished, we accomplished together,” Zinerman said. “This district doesn’t need someone learning the job from scratch. It needs someone who has already been doing the work — and who isn’t finished.”

She pointed to a record voters can see in their own neighborhood: the $6 million she secured for a new Bed-Stuy health and wellness facility that will house the district’s first birthing center; the Community Hiring Act she passed to ensure public dollars create jobs for local residents; and her ongoing fight to protect Black homeowners from deed theft and the predatory schemes that strip families of generational wealth.
Zinerman also looked ahead, laying out a forward agenda focused on the issues residents raise most: lowering the cost of housing and protecting both renters and homeowners from displacement, raising incomes so families can afford to stay in the community they built, expanding access to healthcare and mental health services, and keeping neighborhoods safe.
“My plan is simple,” Zinerman said. “Keep our families in their homes, put real opportunity within reach, and make sure Central Brooklyn never has to wait in the hallway while decisions get made about our lives. I’ve delivered before, and I’m asking for the chance to keep delivering.”
As the discussion closed, Zinerman encouraged residents to make their voices heard at the ballot box and to turn out for her re-election in the June primary.
“Trust is earned on the block, not bought in an election,” she said. “You know me. You’ve watched me work. On primary day, I’m respectfully asking you to come out and keep me working for you.”
The 2026 Democratic primary for the 56th Assembly District will be held on June 23, 2026 with early voting running June 13 through 21.
