Assemblymember Stefani L. Zinerman is expanding community engagement across Bedford-Stuyvesant and Crown Heights through a new series of neighborhood listening sessions that bring residents, business owners, and local organizations together to discuss issues affecting daily life in the 56th Assembly District. Following a strong turnout at the first gathering in Brooklyn, additional sessions are scheduled throughout June, giving community members more opportunities to share concerns, offer ideas, and help shape priorities for the district.

Inaugural session draws strong community turnout on Quincy Street. Upcoming sessions confirmed for June 6, 7, 9, and 14 at host locations across the district.
BROOKLYN, NY — Assemblymember Stefani L. Zinerman has officially launched S.L.I.C.E. Sessions, a new community engagement series designed to bring real, in-person conversations directly into the neighborhoods of New York State Assembly District 56. S.L.I.C.E., which stands for Shaping Local Impact through Community Engagement, is built on a simple premise: the conversations that shape a community should happen in the spaces where that community actually lives.
The inaugural session took place on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 489 Quincy Street in Brooklyn, hosted by Ralph Sealey. Exceeding expectations, residents and small business owners showed up to share their questions, voice their concerns, and contribute their ideas on how to build their slice of Brooklyn.

Attendees of the first session weighed in on a range of issues facing the district, including everyday quality-of-life concerns like Sanitation, that define life in Bed-Stuy and Crown Heights. Each conversation will inform priorities for the months ahead and feed directly into the work of The Vibrant 56 team.
