NYC Health + Hospitals/McKinney has announced that NYC Council Member Rita Joseph has secured $475,000 in city funding to enhance security infrastructure and expand rehabilitative services. The funding will introduce telemetry remote monitoring for residents with cardiac conditions such as congestive heart failure, improving oversight and reducing unnecessary hospitalizations.

Enhancing Cardiac Monitoring with Telemetry

With the addition of telemetry services, nurses will be able to remotely monitor critically ill residents, tracking vital signs such as blood pressure, oxygen levels, respiration, and heart rhythms in real time. This advanced monitoring system ensures timely interventions and reduces hospital admissions, offering residents higher-quality care within the facility.

Strengthening Security for Residents and Staff

McKinney will upgrade its security systems to ensure 24/7 safety for residents and staff. New security measures will include advanced surveillance cameras around the building perimeter and updated access protocols. These enhancements aim to prevent unauthorized access and mitigate risks such as resident elopement or “wandering.”
