Assemblywoman Nikki Lucas Announces Fourth Annual East New York Concert and Wellness Series

Four-day community celebration features health screenings, community resources and Caribbean, Latin, House, Hip-Hop, R&B, Gospel and Jazz performances

BROOKLYN, NY — September 17, 2026 — Starting today, New York State Assemblywoman Nikki Lucas, Legendary DJ Watkins and community partners will present the fourth annual East New York Concert and Wellness Series. The free four-day event runs from Thursday, September 17, through Sunday, September 20, on Van Siclen Avenue between Vandalia Avenue and Schroeders Avenue in East New York, Brooklyn.

The annual series combines live entertainment, wellness programming and community resources for residents of the 60th Assembly District, which includes East New York, Starrett City, Brownsville and Canarsie. Now in its fourth year, the event reflects Assemblywoman Lucas’ commitment to bringing government services, health resources and high-quality cultural experiences directly into the neighborhoods she represents.

“For the fourth consecutive year, we are investing in an event that gives the people of our district more than a concert,” said Assemblywoman Nikki Lucas. “Residents will have access to health and wellness resources—with health screenings on Saturday, useful information, and four days of outstanding entertainment—all at no cost. Our community deserves this level of investment, and I am committed to ensuring that families throughout East Brooklyn can benefit from it.”

Each day of the series will highlight musical traditions represented throughout the district. Caribbean and Latin music will launch the celebration tonight, followed by House music on Friday, Hip-Hop and R&B on Saturday, and Gospel and Jazz on Sunday.

The announced lineup includes Doug E. Fresh, Nice & Smooth, Angela Winbush, Howard Hewett, Byron Stingily, Crystal Waters, Red Fox, Hildemaro Romantic Salsa, Bri Babineaux, The Walls Group, Friends and Strangers Band featuring Nakisha Smith of Always Fit 4 Life, Blahzay Blahzay, Bobby Konders, DJ Famoso, prominent DJ’s and MC’s along with other special guests.

“Our district’s diversity is one of its greatest strengths, and this year’s lineup proudly reflects the people who live here,” Lucas said. “Caribbean and Latin music, House, Hip-Hop, R&B, Gospel and Jazz are all part of the cultural fabric of East Brooklyn. This series brings those communities together while connecting residents with resources that can improve their health, strengthen their families and enhance their quality of life.”

The four-day schedule is:

•          Thursday, September 17: Caribbean and Latin Music, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

•          Friday, September 18: House Music, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

•          Saturday, September 19: Hip-Hop and R&B, 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.

•          Sunday, September 20: Gospel and Jazz, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

“Music has always had the power to bring East New York together,” said DJ Watkins. “This series celebrates the legendary sounds our community grew up with while creating a welcoming space where families can enjoy themselves, access valuable resources and connect with their neighbors.”

In addition to the live performances, attendees will have opportunities to receive information from participating wellness, public-safety and community organizations. Health screenings will be available during Saturday’s hip-hop and R&B program, giving residents convenient access to important preventive health services while enjoying the day’s entertainment. The series is designed as an intergenerational gathering where residents can celebrate together and learn about programs and services available to them.

The series is supported by community partners and sponsors, including District Leader Michael Rosendary, Mylah’s Organization Inc., The Italian American Civil Rights League, Liakas Law, The Starret City – Spring Creek Lions Club, the New York City Police Department and the New York City Fire Department.

The fourth annual East New York Concert and Wellness Series begins tonight at 5 p.m. on Van Siclen Avenue between Vandalia Avenue and Schroeders Avenue, Brooklyn, New York 11239. All four days are free and open to the public.
