Hook & Reel and Brooklyn Buzz present Sunday at the Reel with Live Music
Hook & Reel is turning up the energy in Southeast Brooklyn with the debut of “Sunday Live at the Reel,” a new Sunday evening experience bringing live R&B music, cocktails, and a vibrant atmosphere to Canarsie. Featuring performances by Out of the Blue, the event aims to give local residents another reason to stay local for entertainment, dining, and nightlife.
Hook & Reel, known for its Cajun seafood, has partnered with Brooklyn Buzz and EAT & Drink NYC to bring a new energy to Sunday evenings in Southeast Brooklyn with the debut of “Sunday Live at the Reel,” a live music and dining experience coming to its Canarsie/Georgetown location on Sunday, May 31 beginning at 5 p.m.
Taking place at Hook & Reel Cajun Seafood & Bar, located at 2183 Ralph Avenue in the Georgetown Mall in Brooklyn, the event is designed to bring together great food, live entertainment, cocktails, and community atmosphere in one of Brooklyn’s most vibrant neighborhoods.
The evening will feature live performances by Out of the Blue, featuring a full band and R&B singers, creating an upbeat atmosphere for guests looking for a local Sunday night experience close to home.
The organizers at Brooklyn Buzz said the event is part of a growing effort to spotlight the dining, nightlife, and cultural energy building throughout Southeast Brooklyn.
“We’re seeing more people looking for quality entertainment and dining experiences right in their own neighborhoods,” said Cal Jones, Director of Hospitality Partnerships for JIG Media. “When you combine live music with a restaurant that already has great food and a strong atmosphere, it creates something special for the community. Our goal is to create a win-win for both the venue and local residents, while also giving people from across Brooklyn another reason to visit and enjoy what Southeast Brooklyn has to offer.”
Jeff Chen, one of the owners of Hook & Reel said, “We wanted to create an experience where families, friends, and the community can come together, enjoy great food, hear live music, and really feel the energy of Brooklyn right here in Canarsie. People are looking for places that feel alive, welcoming, and exciting, and we believe ‘Sunday Live at the Reel’ can become something special for the neighborhood.”
Guests can expect seafood favorites, cocktails, music, and a lively social atmosphere throughout the evening as Hook & Reel transforms its restaurant space into a destination for food, entertainment, and community connection.
The event comes as more Brooklyn restaurants invest in experience-driven hospitality concepts that blend dining with live entertainment and social engagement. Organizers believe neighborhoods throughout Southeast Brooklyn deserve more local experiences that allow residents to enjoy quality entertainment without traveling outside the community.

“Brooklyn has always had incredible culture, music, food, and talent, but many neighborhoods outside of Downtown Brooklyn or Williamsburg are often overlooked when it comes to live entertainment experiences,” added Jones. “Hook & Reel is helping create something special for Canarsie, Georgetown, and the surrounding neighborhoods by bringing people together through live music, food, and hospitality right here in the community.”
There is no cover charge for admission. However, organizers encourage guests to support the venue and help sustain future live entertainment experiences by purchasing food and beverages during the event.
Community members are encouraged to view event details and add the event to their calendars through the Brooklyn Buzz Events Calendar.
The event is part of a broader push by Brooklyn Buzz and EAT & Drink NYC to spotlight local restaurants, hospitality venues, nightlife experiences, and community destinations throughout Brooklyn and New York City.
