This body of work explores the psychological landscape of America’s rust belt, where the reality of post-industrial decline meets the ethereal, shifting world of the subconscious. Through dreamlike color-grading and long exposure techniques, Wagner depicts Midwestern characters in their everyday lives, their fever dreams, and the liminal spaces in between. About Summer Wagner
Summer Wagner is an LA-based photographer from the Midwest’s Rust Belt. Her narrative-driven, ethereal work explores themes of desire, spirituality, and trauma within a post-industrial context. A graduate of Biola University with a BFA in film production, Wagner began photographing her home region during the pandemic, gaining widespread attention for her haunting imagery. Her works, including both NFTs and prints, have been auctioned at Christie’s New York and featured in publications such as Harper’s Bazaar, Aesthetica Magazine, and Setanta Books. Wagner has exhibited at Art Basel Miami and Paris Photo, among others.
